:: Wedding Hair Inspiration ::

My mind has been wandering lately. It's hard to stay focused on the tasks at hand when I have thoughts running through my head dealing with table centrepieces, hair styles, wedding budgets, shoes, dresses, accessories ... the list goes on! There are so many fine details that I don't want to miss. I want to make sure I am organised and calm in the lead up to the wedding.

One thought I have been indulging in a lot lately is hair styles for my bridal party. I know it's not really a "big" issue, but it's a fun one! Gracie has been talking about braids lately, which is exactly the type of hair style I'm after. I love braids - they're soft, feminine, and graceful. I have put together a little preview of what I've been thinking of in terms of hair.

:: Long Weekend ::

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was a long weekend, and even then it went far too fast! My long weekend was spent watching my little sister play soccer (she's the tall one on the far left with two curly pigtails). I love watching little ones play team sport. They all ran around after the ball, but didn't really do all that much. It seems my Mum's "be kind and let everyone have a go" mentality has worked on my sister. She doesn't like to steal the ball from the other team members!

Other than exciting soccer matches Mr LG and I went shopping for plants to make our house a bit more of a "home". At the moment it's looking a little "bachelor-pad-esque" as I won't be moving in 'til after we marry. We came home with two pots of traditional daisies and some lavender (ha ha!). I will take photos of them in their new home once we have put them in pretty pots. We also had afternoon tea with the whole tribe (I'm one of six kids), went for a bike ride to check out Mr LG's old primary school, and watched episodes of V.

I'm currently listening to 'If Only' by Hanson and pretending I wasn't as crazy as all the Justin Bieber fans seem to be :/ Oh, who am I kidding, haha.

:: Happy Friday ::

Happy Friday! I have never been more happy to see the weekend! This week seemed to drag on and on and on and on and ... well, you get the point :)

There's nothing like a little something to lift your mood after a long week - these flowers greet me when I walk in the front door and instantly brighten my day. What's not to love about pink and red tulips?

The weather is only just starting to cool down in my part of the world. A quick walk around the city would tell you otherwise - everyone is rugged up in their Winter woolies. I think everyone's ready for Winter, even if the Sun's still shining brightly!

This week I gave my Maid of Honour, Bridesmaids, and Flower Girl these little cards to "officially" ask them to be a part of my special day. My younger sister will be my Maid of Honour, my other younger sister and my sister-in-law will be my Bridesmaid's, and my youngest sister will be my Flower Girl. My Maid of Honour is currently pregnant, so by the time I get married I may have a mini Flower Girl or Paige Boy to be carried down the aisle too!

Things are coming together nicely - Mr LG and I have booked an adorable little Baptist church that my younger sister and her husband were also married in. We also have a potential reception venue and we're about 99.9% certain we know what photographer we're going to use! I've only been engaged a little under 4 weeks, so I'm super happy everything's falling into place!

I'm off to enjoy the start of my long weekend! I hope you all have a great couple of days!

:: An Introduction ::

You know when you're sitting a group and someone suggests everyone states their name and something interesting about them? I've never been very good at that. I know my name and I know what I like ... this shouldn’t be very hard, and yet I sit there thinking, "I have nothing interesting to say!"

Something that seems to amuse everyone is my slightly "unusual" name – Jasmine Holly. Nothing unusual about Jasmine (one would think, though I rarely come across other Jasmine's) or Holly, but together people are delighted at how "romantically floral" my name is. As of January 9th, 2011 my name will contain triple the flower power (and hopefully, triple the fun!) – I will become Mrs Jasmine Holly Lavender.

I kid you not.

This is where the title of my blog originated. Remember the nursery rhyme we all learnt as kids? Lavender Blue, dilly dilly, Lavender Green ... I chose 'Lavender's Green' because my favourite colour is, undoubtedly, green. I would like to fashion a name plate out of weathered wood proclaiming the name of our house to be "Lavender's Green", but I have yet to run this by Mr LG.

I am a 27-year-old girl residing on the East Coast of Australia. I live for stationery of all description – letters, envelopes, paper, stickers, stamps, pens – you name it, I love it. My other interests include writing, music, and photography. I love black and white portraits and I am working (slowly) towards developing my photographic skills.

So sit back, have a cup of tea with me and enjoy reading about my attempts with DIY home renovations, my journey into married life, and the generally quirky adventures that make me, me!
