I have always loved nail polish but, for the most part it's been a love affair from a far. I love all the different colours available, and I would always admire the brightly coloured nails of girls I saw in the street or on the train. It was never for me, though. I would stick to muted tones, and even then it was only on my toes where hardly anyone would see it. Sometimes I would lash out and do my toe nails bright pink ... but it was always the same pink as every other time I felt adventurous.
Lately I've been feeling brave and inspired! I adore Summer and I adore bright colours. I've been watching all the Summer fashion trends on some American blogs and one thing I have noticed is candy coloured nails. Fun! So, with a little pushing from the nail Queen Karina, I did it! I took the plunge, bought some new colours and started wearing brightly coloured nail polish ... on my fingers!
Bright aqua nails, bright yellow cardigan ... and a rainbow smash drink!
My namesake - lavender. Love this one.
This colour is my latest purchase (I took this photo about 15 minutes ago!). I was hoping for a bright sunshine yellow, but I quite like this egg-yolk yellow colour.
What do you think? My next colour purchases will hopefully be a pale mint green, a coral/peach, and to off-set all the colour a nice matte pale grey (for days when my outfit brings the colour!).
Do you wear coloured nail polish? What is your favourite brand? I really like OPI, but it's super expensive here.
Are there any other beauty trends you recommend? I love wearing fun eye shadow, but I'm practically a newbie when it comes to lipstick/gloss (I've only ever worn it a few times. I'm a balm kind of girl).

I stopped wearing nail polish a few years ago because I chip it so quickly on my hands and I wanted my bathroom drawer to have minimal stuff in it. But I certainly still admire it on other women. There's some gorgeous colours in your collection! I love your wedding ring! Will email you soon. I'm doing a mini blog makeover at the moment! xx
ReplyDeleteThey are great colours! I don't wear much make up at all so nails are where I dress up! My favourites are a peachy orange and a torquoise. I love that yellow yolk colour heaps. Brand wise.. I think most of mine are Rimmel. Fun! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love that yellow colour - how gorgeous! I also have the pale purple chi chi one :-) I think that the chi chi salon formula's are quite good. You are going to be all set for summer. I really want to try nail stickers. I have seen them on some american blogs and they look really fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the purple and the aqua one (I remember taking a pic of that one haha). I haven't tried ChiChi yet but I know they sell it at Myer.
ReplyDeleteI like OPI as well but I like Essie too. I have a mint green colour in the Essie brand I bought it for Christmas last year. I want to branch out with coloured nails this summer too. x
I also really like the purple and aqua nail colors, but I think I'd prefer more of a pastel yellow ;)
ReplyDeleteJust found your cute blog, and I'm your newest follower :)

never mind the polish...check out your ring!!! LOVE IT!!!! x
ReplyDeleteI've totally got back into wearing nail varnish. I don't know why but it always brightens whatever i'm wearing up, yet I crave for more. I only have say about ten colours and I just wish I could have so many more!
ReplyDeleteI've been really into nail polish this summer- yellow, lavendar, coral/orange, and now bright, deep garnet red. For some reason its been lasting a lot longer than I remember when I used to wear it. Perhaps I just am not as hard on my hands anymore haha!
ReplyDeleteI used to only wear shades of red, pink, and black on my nails. Then I realized that I was being silly, so I have been into other colours a lot lately too. I really like the shade of your yellow nailpolish! And your rings are beeeauuuuutiiifuuuuulll!!!
ReplyDeleteI was never into nail polish except for bright reds, pinks, or an orange on my toes, but I made one sea foam purchase, and something snapped in my mind. In a half a year, I've bought more polish than in the rest of my life! I got that same yellow color two days ago. :)
ReplyDeletethis reminds me of how i got some yellow nail polish and one of my male colleagues walked in to my office and was all "WHOA those nails are yellow" and that' sthe first thing he said to me, haha!
ReplyDeleteEeekkk!! I love this post for many reasons ;) First of all I am loving your nails, I told you could rock them girl ;) and you are!!! I am loving that yellow one, it's perfect!!!! Awwwwww.. Schucks thank you for the very sweet title - love you!! And I love that first pic so many pretty nailpolishes ;) Chi-Chi I like that name for a nailpolish brand, sounds cool!! Perfect post - Rock those nails Beautiful girl!!! xoxo Ahhh and I especially love that lavender on you!! ;)
ReplyDeleteLoving all the photos of the bright nail varnishes! I love the yellow, it's so summery and lovely! I don't really tend to wear too much nail varnish as my school doesn't actually permit it, and as I'm in school for most of the year, I don't get much opportunity. However, when I do apply nail varnish in the holidays, I tend to wear a lot of grey, cream/nude, burgundy, red and navy blue. I've never used OPI, what's it like? :-) I tend to use Rimmel and No. 7 most of the time, which suit me just fine!
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't really use much make-up at all, if ever! I suppose on special occasions, I use some mascara and red lipstick :-) Also I absolutely MUST thank you for your giveaway that I won a while ago, I love the Burt Bee's lipbalm and I have no idea where I could buy it from in England!
Hope you're well :-)

I never do my finger nails {they flake too quickly} but I always, always have my toe nails done. Currently they're a sparkly hot pink... Now I'm in the mood for a pedicure. Perhaps I'll book myself one as a back-to-school treat?
ReplyDeleteLovely colors! I suggest scoping out prices on amazon. I don't wear/buy polish frequently, but I've found I like Essie the most (I stays on forever) and I order it for much less than drugstore prices on amazon.com
