Inside my fridge
I need a lifestyle change. I'm not talking about a fad diet, I'm talking about a real change. For the good. I have spent far too long wishing to be fit and healthy, and have not spent any real time trying to reach that goal. I have spent far too long death staring the fit girls with their bouncy ponytails at my gym (lol).
I have some great excuses. My ankle hurts, I don't feel too good, my asthma's acting up, I'm too tired ... blah, blah, blah. If it's to do with diet or exercise, I will give you some of the most well-justified excuses you've ever heard. But here's the thing - I have more energy after I exercise, my asthma gets better the more I swim ... but I always forget these things.
Inside my pantry
I'm not aiming to be skinny. I don't have a skinny frame - I have legs a rugby player would be happy to have, and shoulders that can press almost as much as most boys I know. I am slowly understanding that being strong is not a bad thing. But now I want to be fit and strong. I may be strong, but I'm not fit. If I had to run for my life, I'm pretty sure I'd die (Let's hope there isn't a zombie invasion any time soon, because I'm so not ready).
I currently listen to Fall Out Boy when I'm at the gym, but I'd like a bit of diversity. I need your help, ladies! Do you have any workout song suggestions? Songs that make you want to get up and move, and make you want to push yourself just that little bit harder. Fun, upbeat and peppy is what I'm after! I figure if I can get around an hour's worth of music, I'll know that I've done enough exercise by the time the playlist is up.
Check out what I found while I was looking for music inspiration:
Ridiculously cute, right?

I have to put that into my fridge! I am trying for so long to eat healthier and stuff like that, but I always have some excuses.. I have to change that!
ReplyDeleteNew follower here! Love the blog. And Oh My!!!! I posted the same YT video yesterday on my blog. It's unreal. I could barely remember my alphabet at her age. Prodigy perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThis is actually something that I should do at home. I'm a big snacker and honestly keeping up with my diet is hard to do :( However, if I see signs like this it'll keep me going
ReplyDeleteYou should look into Pandora's workout playlists! I've heard they have good ones! :) Best of luck, sweetheart. I definitely need to do this as well. I like your notes!
ReplyDeleteI love the little inspirational notes all around your kitchen, what a lovely idea! I love that you're doing it to get fit and healthy, I would love to be motivated enough to do something like that... I could never give up food though, so maybe I should start exercising too!
ReplyDeleteI quite like running and cycling sometimes... Rock is very good because it's always got a fast tempo and loud beat: I like Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, etc. Also, Florence + The Machine, Foster The People, Jay-Z and Joan Jett are some other favourites. Then the oldies like Cyndi Lauper, Belinda Carlisle, Starship... They're just some that I like anyway!
Happy exercising, Jasmine! :-)

I love black eyed pea's music when I am working out. Also Limp Bizkit!
ReplyDeleteOh and I totally hear ya on the legs like a rugby player hahaha
Hey, good for you, Jasmine! What a great plan! I've been trying to at least get some kind of physical activity in my day, but someday I'll hopefully be up to a longer routine. I think one of my favorite songs to work out to is Katy Perry's Hot & Cold (even though I really don't like her music or respect her at all). Good beat!
ReplyDeleteGood for you- you can do it!
ReplyDeleteI have lots of Beyonce and Rihanna on mine, but also some Kanye, Basement Jaxx and a lot of the Step Up soundtrack. And if I want a slower day, I just watch Lizzie McGuire on the treadmill before heading to the weights :)
ReplyDeletei'm always good at thinking of excuses too, that is for sure. i think i;ve just learned to turn my mind off, not think about it - and just GO!
ReplyDeleteYeh the excuses are what hold me back too. I will have an excuse for everything. So I'm glad that you are trying to make a lifestyle change.
ReplyDeleteI joined Fitness First today so I hope to get more fit and tone up again :)
As for songs I will need them too as I need goods songs that want to make me move. We will have to come up with a playlist. x
I NEED TO DO THIS. I'm usually not hungry at all, just feel like snacking haha.
ReplyDeleteBelly B :)
Oh golly I am the KING of excuses for not doing exercise :( I'm proud of you for your health plan! I shall exercise vicariously through you O_O ehehe.
ReplyDeleteUmm I don't know about work out music O_o The beatles are always a winner in my book! But i'm british thus bias ehehe O_O x xx
I love this post for so many reasons! I am currently working on my goal of getting fitter as well :) As for excuses girl tell me about it! I'm not a member of a gym right now so I get to jog through Central Park and you could in the beginning hear me say it's windy, it's drizzling, oh it might rain. But I'm finally tired, tired of feeling fat, tired of having such low self esteem and just tired period! I'm not looking to get supermodel thin like you said also, I will never be that thin and I'm happy with having curves and nice legs and boobs :) And you my friend are beautiful curves and all! There will come a time when you will feel it and something will just click! I could go on and on about this subject! As for music - I have tons of songs on my ipod from spanish to euro techno :) I put up an example in my blog today and will be putting up some more examples soon :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend love :)
xoxo
Good for you!!! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI need to try this. I used to be so good about working out but now I have so many lame excuses. Bad Amy!
