:: Lavender ::

Back in May Mr LG and I planted some daisies and some lavender in pots on our front deck. Neither of us are very skilled at anything plant related, except perhaps, on how to accidentally kill them :( True to form, our daisies aren't looking so good. But, our lavender has it's first flower! I am so excited (and kind of amused that my future namesake is growing just fine).

Look, look!
I can't wait 'til it's a full pot plant of amazing smelling lavender. Do any of you grow flowers? What are some fail-safe flowers we could grow?

  4. i love the feeling when you plant something, toil the soil, water it, talk with it every morning when you wake up, and then seeing it grow and flower. it's very fulfilling. :)

  5. I've been growing succulents, mint, and basil. They're all pretty low-key, plus the basil and mint smells great!

  6. Gorgeous! I have no plant or flower skill so nothing to offer here :( But I'm excited for your pretty lavender (you could start making your own soap or something)

Photo booths are so much fun! You should set up an area for your wedding (we did and it was really popular and fun)

As for the hot chocolate I can't remember which cafe it's from. Definitely in Southbank...maybe in Little Stanley st? Eepp! I will try and find out (especially cause I love it too!)

With my Dear Darlings pen pals....I have one Aussie, and 2 from America. It's so exciting!

Cleaning wise...pretty much nothing. We bought a duster...and got Jason's mum's old vacuum cleaner :/

  9. We planted lavendar this year and I am happy with the results- I was kinda picturing meadow like abundance but am happy with the healthy robust plants we have none the less.

    Have a great day.

  11. I kill everything other than things in the veggie garden I planted at my parents. You are not alone my dear!

So, I have been wondering why I've been missing your posts in my "blogs I follow" updates. I was pretty much appalled to discover that all this time while I was under the impression we were following each other I've been remiss and wasn't one of your fans!!! I'm so sorry!

    Situation rectified!

  16. Oh Sunshine coast would be great as part of your honeymoon :)

Eckersleys is awesome! And that is a great bargain. I've been collecting bits and pieces for the journal too. I'm trying to pretty up the cover too.

You have to check out The Hunger Games. The book looks different in Aus as we have the UK version of the covers. But it's amazing!

It's basically set in the far future, post-apocolyptic world. The US doesn't exist anymore and there is a city called Panem that rules. North America has been divided into 12 districts and each year 2 kids from each district have to participate in The Hunger Games. Basically it's a fight to the death.

It's a pretty shocking concept but there is something so weirdly engaging about it (kind of sad really that we would be fascinated by the violence in it). Anyway, it follows Katniss who is a participant and it's in her point of view. There is so much in the book (s) and I really do recommend you try and find it in the book stores.

    So...definitely check it out!
