:: Royal Show - The 'Ekka' ::

Once a year every capital city in Australia has a royal show. The show is full of fun rides, show bags, games, farm animals, fashion parades, fireworks, and many other fun things. In Brisbane our royal show is called The Ekka, because it is held at our Exhibition Grounds. This year I went with Mr LG, two of my sisters, my brother-in-law, and one of my friends.


My favourite part of the Ekka is Sideshow Alley at night time. I love the bright colours, the screams of delight (and possibly fear, haha), the smell of fairy floss and dagwood dogs, and the crazy carnies who try to get you to play their games.

    I love the pictures. Carnivals are a lot of fun, it's hard to choose a favorite part. I love going down to see madame fortune teller, watching magic shows, riding on the merry go round, walking around at night enjoying the carnival lights and fireworks. =)

    Ohhhh I love the Royal Show and u just made me realise that the Perth one's soon gonna be here!! ;) woohoo!

    Did u do any rides? :P Im a big chicken so i dont do any :p But i love the dog shows, I always go see them :)

    Lovely photos! I really like the ones of the rides. We have a huge festival/celebration called the Minnesota State Fair for two weeks at the end of summer. My favorite part? The people watching!

    Looks like you guys had fun! We were going to go on Tuesday but it rained all day!! I love going on the ferris wheel and eating those strawberry sundaes :)

    Oh your photos are so beautiful! You make me want to go there :) Although I'm not sure if we will. The Ferris wheel is just lovely.

    I love the fashion shows and walking around the showbag pavillion. And fairy floss is a must! Sideshow alley is pretty at night with all the lights.

    Hmm..still have a few days. Maybe I will go on the last day or something. x

    I love these shots! So gorgeous. They capture the light filled night well. I love carnivals. I love the rides the best, though often times I don't really trust them!

    Pray tell, WHAT in the name of all that is lovely, is "Fairy Floss"???? And Dagwood dogs??? Never heard of either of those, though I imagine Fairy Floss is Cotton Candy? Is that the common name for it in your neck of the woods? If so, I think I like Fairy Floss better than Cotton Candy!!!! How exquisite!
