I come a fairly large family (second eldest of six kids). Most of us are old and grown and have moved out of home. As a result we don't see each other as often as we used too, so to make sure we see each other once a month we have decided that once a month we will have a three course meal at one of my brother's or sister's houses. This weekend marked the second meal we have had and it is so much fun getting together and eating fabulous food.
The very first meal we had together was at my brother and sister-in-law's house. These two are known for their culinary masterpieces, so we were all salivating in anticipation! They chose an Asian themed menu of Thai beef salad, satay chicken skewers on fried rice, and sweet rice pudding. Mmm!
My sister-in-law has made a guest post over at my other blog :: Mind Your Crumbs :: because the entire menu was gluten free!
Now that I have the recipes in my hands, I will definitely be making them a part of my weekly meal rotation. Satay chicken on rice would be perfect with the chilly weather we've been having lately!
What would you serve if you were hosting a dinner party? Mr LG and I are hosting next month and any suggestions would be wonderful!
PS. A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who voted for my photo last week. Even though voting started five weeks before I entered my photo, with your help I managed to make it to ninth position with 193 votes! I felt so loved every time I saw my vote count jump up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. xox
Hi Jasmine! I'm your Pampered Swap Partner and I wanted to let you know that your package is in the mail as of today :) I made the mistake of going to a post office within a store last week and the girls behind the counter looked at me like I was a crazy person when I wanted to ship something to Australia. But never fear, it is on its way! I hope you like it!
ReplyDeleteAlso, for a dinner party, it might be fun to make baked brie! It's very simple and you can drizzle caramel and raspberry sauce on it and dip crackers into the melted cheese. My mouth is watering just thinking about it, haha!
i'm really not the person to ask about cooking for a dinner party, my tastebuds like it plain, as i blog, Mr D is puttimg the Gammon in the oven :)
ReplyDeletewow- very impressive on the photo contest! I'm not at all surprised though :)
ReplyDeleteNeat about the GF menu- I'll have to share it with my sister and brother in law who both are GF for different reasons.
and for dinner party- gotta have grilled veggies!
Looks like fun!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fab idea. My friends and I did a similar thing and it was so much fun. I did a rustic country theme with tomato soup and a beautiful goats cheese tart - both gluten free if you want the receipes :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 9th place that is awesome!

I absolutely love the place settings! Adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh wonderful idea. Although we're not that fantastic at cooking. I would love to get the family together more often. I will have to check out your sister's post because I need more ideas for gluten free cooking. If you and your hubs are to ever come over. Plus my sis in law is pretty much eating gluten free too. x
ReplyDeletethis sounds soo wonderful. getting together with family/ friends and cooking... can't get any better! is everyone understanding with your gluten free eating?
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good week, Jasmine!

This is such a lovely idea, Dave. I have no ideas on the cooking front though! Let me know what you come up with! Have you decided on a theme? :-D
ReplyDeleteThat's such a lovely idea to reunite such a big family once a month :-) When I have my own place when I'm older, I plan on hosting many dinner parties of my own! :-)
