:: Snail Mail ::

Happy Diamond Jubilee everyone!

Down here in Australia we don't celebrate the Queen's birthday on or near her actual birthday, we celebrate it at different times of the year in different states. In Queensland it has always been celebrated around this time of the year, but as of this year that is changing. We have used this public holiday to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, and in October we will celebrate her birthday with another public holiday. Next year, the public holiday will be in October and we will pretend the June public holiday never existed.

I'm not sure why we're doing this, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that almost all of our public holidays are around the same time of the year and then we have a dry spell with no holidays from early June through to Christmas (except the royal show holiday - but only Brisbane gets that day off, not everyone in Queensland). With the new holiday in October, the year will be broken up a bit more - and this year we got lucky with an extra day off!

I have spent my long weekend at a craft fair (wait til you see what I got!), the movies, and in front of the heater dying quietly from the cold. I have also written a few postcards for Postcrossing. And speaking of snail mail ...

Earlier today I was searching through Pinterest for stationery inspiration and I came across this blog - Mysterious Letters - have you heard of it? Basically, Lenka and Michael have decided to send a letter to everyone ... in the world. Check out the blog, it's awesome! I hope I receive a letter soon!

Have you ever sent a letter to a random address? If so, did they write back?

    I tried to reply to your comment re: turmeric dyeing over on my blog but it wouldn't go so:
    It worked really well and after washing does not smell like tumeric anymore. The Supre top I dyed has been through a normal wash and tumble dry now and is perfect still although would probably fade over time like chemical dyes do anyway. I was surprised how easy it was and how fun. There are stacks of other household things you can use as well like onion skins and berries. There is a great Australian website and book around that was in Peppermint mag a while ago I think, I'll see if I can find it and send you the link If you like?
    thanks for stopping by! A x

    P.S. I am the worst penpal ever :( I am SO backed up!

    You are my Sunshine!! Thank you so much for comments! They always make me smile and my eyes watered up as I read your comment! Thank you, Love you!!!!
    I know that we will do it!!
    I know what you mean about the food, I had two bad days last week. Where I gobbled up french fries and chocolate after feeling down and really stressed. Like you said I don't know why, I mean afterwards I have all the stomach pain and acid problems. That's something I really need to work on, not stress eating. Yes, throw out all of the junk food. I did the same, as long as I don't have any I won't eat it. Only bad thing is my brother or sister will buy junk food and I will see it when I open the pantry. Temptation is very evil!

    I'm really putting in my mind that I will lose the weight slowly and yes keep it off. I know people who will just stop eating all kinds of real food and eat nothing but lettuce but they end up gaining back double what they lost. Only thing about that goal is that I bought a butterfly dress and it doesn't fit properly so I'm hoping to wear it on my birthday. But we will see!

    The bra is ok, better than my regular one. I mean it holds my boobs ok, they are not flailing around - lol. I guess if I really don't want them to bounce around I'd have to buy something crazy tight and suffocating and I don't want that. I just bought another one two days ago at Old Navy, it looks like a bra and I think it will have more support than the one I posted. Will use it this week and post about it :)

    Happy Tuesday my time and Wednesday your time my Sunshine!!

    P.S. We must plan another skype date :)

    xoxo
